CCOT Report 2019-2020

We are proud of our Club having the unique in-house social arm for under privileged children by forming CCOT (Catholic Club Orphans Trust), a registered body with 80G compliance. This year we had completed most of our activities, however though the FY ended on 31.03.2020, our activities continue until the conduct of the Club’s AGM however the Pandemic, played spoil sport and hence we were not able to complete the Medical Camps for most of the Child Care Homes. This year too we had the following activities:
  1. Leadership Training by Talent Ease
  2. Medical Camp
  3. Christmas Patty – The Fun Day
  4. Pilot Project – Gender Responsibility, Sexuality and Personal Safety by Enfold India
  5. Fund Raiser- Golf Tournament
  6. Hygiene Product
Leadership Training: Our year began with the continuation of the Leadership aiming programme conducted by Talent Ease with most of the Homes having completed its 24 Annual sessions, this program has been beneficial to over 600 children from ten homes under CCOT As of now, there has been a 6-month break and for the future the programme will most likely be held virtually. Hygiene Products, thanks to Rachel D’Cunha, a high school youngster from Australia, the donor of a girl hygiene product, CCOT has distributed 9000 Sanitary packs to 350 girls from Homes. Rachel has formed an organisation namely Hygiene Women (check their website). We are extremely thankful and grateful to Rachel and her parents for this initiative. Pilot Project: This is a program on Gender Responsibility, Sexuality and personal safety through restorative process. It was conducted at Ashadeep Children’s Home in collaboration with Enfold India. The comprehensive program was conducted for all the children as the caretakers (top to bottom), of the Home for over six months. The feedback we received from Sr. Doris, the director of the Home was very positive and hence we will be extending this to the other homes as well. Fun Day: A day dedicated for all the children of the 11 homes, the annual Christmas party was on Sunday, 8th Dec’19, at the Club, CCOT conducts this day with help from many Members and their friends, serving 800 children and their caretakers with breakfast, followed by lunch, dessert and a goodie bag. After breakfast the children have games, fun activities (Bouncing Castle) and the all-important talent contest. This year’s talent contest was won by the children of St Patrick’s Home. Each child was given a personalised hoodie and a goodie bag that contained 23 items. Wish that many more members witness this spectacle. Thanks to all the benefactors who contributed to the success of the signature programme. This is a Fund raiser and has become a very popular tournament with all top golfers; there were a total of 120 golfers participating in this the 12th edition, under the Chairmanship of Vinod John. The principal donor was Satya Prasad M K and very efficiently conducted by Jude Lobo. Hearty congratulations to Austin Roach, the best Catholic Club golfer of this year’s tournament. Austin Roach has been a constant donor since the inception of the tournament. The Prize distribution and after party was held at the Club. Medical Camp: A Camp on 22.09.2019, held for 100 children at RTC Girls Home. This year we were able to have one at St. Marys Boys’ Home wherein 10 doctors examined over 160 children, CCOT then provides the medicines as well as Ophthalmic, Dental assistance. The camps for the others could not be held due to the children’s school activities and the pandemic. We are grateful to:
