CCOT Report 2018-2019

Time has flown and we at CCOT have given it our best to fulfil the aspirations of the Clubs objective namely – to serve the lesser privilege of the society. This is my second term and the Committee together with an increased number of Member Volunteers have given it our best in bringing a smile on the faces of the children. This year we have added one more institution of 100 girls. We now have seen activates for 730 children from 11 institutions. We should therefore be proud members for starting CCOT, a one of its kind Club initiative by the founding fathers. To refresh your memory, from five activities last year we have now added two more activities as under:
  1. Leadership training by Talent Ease
  2. Medical Camp
  3. Infrastructure (Equipment)
  4. Christmas – Fun Day
  5. Fund Raiser – Golf Tournament
  6. Career Guidance
  7. Hygiene products for girls
Leadership training by Talent Ease: This Soft Skills Leadership programme is progressing very well and as per the feedback received from the care takers of the orphanages, we have renewed our agreement with Talent Ease for another year, As informed in my last report the training for 600 will now be imparted to over 700 children converting all the Institutions. The Module II will therefore begin from June 2019 for the coming academic year. Medical Camps: We had a total of 3 medical camps for 500 Children from 5 institutions. The highlight of this year was that the most of the volunteer doctors were Club Members and for the November camp all 12 of them were member doctors. From the inception over 12 years ago, these camps are led by our very own Dr. Bobby Joseph and Dr. Pretesh Kiran and a dedicated team from St John’s. Thank you, all Member Doctors: Anne Pereira, Maya Mascarenhas, Carl Britto, Robert Anthony and wife Mary Ann, Shireen and Sunil Furtado, Sunita Lobo, Trisha DaSilva, Uttara Pandit, Diffina D’Couto and Praveen Rodrigues. We also had a record number of Member volunteers to help in conducting of the camps. Christmas — Fun Day: This is the signature programme at the Club and this Christmas event as held on 09.12.2018; a whole day of party for 730 children. There were lots of fun activities, games, Talent Contests and a presentation by the children regarding Talent Ease training. This year the Talent contest was won by St Mary’s Boys’ Home. The children were given a Wildcraft bag donated by Mr. Siddarth Sood. Thank you Siddarth for this gesture and wish you and your Organisation Wildcraft and your family blessings from above for a bright future. This Goodie bag and its content were well worth over Rs.3500!! This year too we received a sum of Rs. 2.82 Lakhs from the same anonymous donor. Thanks to all our Benefactors, for bringing a smile on the faces of the children as well as abundant blessings from all the Children and CCOT. God bless you all. Fund Raiser Golf Tournament: We were unable to have a tournament in the year 2017-18; and hence had two Golf Tournaments this financial year. The first tournament was on 27.04.2018 (10th edition), under the chairmanship of Austin Roach and the other on 08-02-2019 (11th edition) under the chairmanship of Sunil Vasant. Both these tournaments we ably supported by the one and only Peter Prem and the principal organiser was also our Member Jude Lobo an R & A certified golf referee. The two tournaments were the efforts of the Golf Chairmen and their team which generated a surplus of 17 Lakhs. We are grateful to the BGC committee for utilisation of their golf course at a discount and also to all our sponsors, participants and benefactors for their contributions in cash and kind. Here I would like to mention that just before the prize distribution of the second tournament we received a donation of Rs. 2 Lakhs from Satyaprakash M K, a BGC member. A big Thank You to all the donors. Career Guidance: This is the new initiative wherein we had 123 children from grade 9th up to college. This programme was organised with our Member John Quadros. We had a number of speakers from various fields that motivated the children to begin to ‘THINK’ of a career. This programme is still in process and yet to be finalised. Hygiene products for girls: A youngster (niece of our member), together with her friends from Australia has Offered CCOT to supply Hygiene products to all the 300 eligible girls from the institutions that are under CCOT. The initial activity is for a period of two years and they have also agreed to assist us in other initiatives. This year we had contributions from the Club departments of: Romp Run, iKidz and iBrowse — thanks to Samantha Pasha and Jude Lobo. An appeal to all members to continue with your support in cash or kind to CCOT and help us in continuing in fulfilling the aspirations of our club’s objective and bringing a smile back into the faces of these children. We are 80G compliant to enable you to avail benefit under the Income Tax act. Our sincere THANK YOU to:
  1. All our benefactors for their generosity in cash and kind
  2. The Members of the Golf Committee
  3. The Club Secretary and all other staff for all the help during the year
  4. To our President, treasurer and the committee for their support
  5. To all the volunteers who help us in our endeavours, especially for the Medical Camps, Christmas Fun Day, Career Guidance and Golf Tournament.
  6. All our Sponsors: Wildcraft, Himalaya Wellness, BGC, Britannia, ITC, Comer House, Saleh Ahmed, Infant Travels, Gangotri Sweets, Epson, RBD Shelters, Radisson Blu, Ferns Builders and Developers, Britto Designs, Zonasha, Krishvi Builders, Vasants Business Park, Stericon Pharma, BrandCom, Ambient controls, Nissin Foods, Reynolds, Titan, Jeepand Kingfisher.
  7. Last but not the least a very big Thank You to CCOT Committee Members for their generous support and willingness to execute any task with full commitment. God Bless you and your families!
