Our initiatives
Fun Day
The Fun Day initiative is, in many ways, one of the founding inspirations behind CCOT. What began in the early 1980s as a small and informal gathering during Christmas, where a few well-wishers distributed snacks and gifts to children, gradually evolved into something much larger. That humble act of kindness eventually gave rise to CCOT as we know it today, an organization committed not only to bringing moments of joy to children, but also to supporting their overall wellbeing, education, and future opportunities. Every December, children from various orphanages are invited to the Catholic Club for a day filled with celebration and togetherness. The celebration concludes with a prize distribution ceremony and the distribution of goody bags for all the children. More than just a festive gathering, Fun Day continues to serve as a meaningful tradition that fosters friendship, community, and lasting memories for everyone involved.
Medical Care
One of CCOT’s key initiatives is the organization of annual medical camps that provide healthcare support to over 850 children. Through these camps, we aim to ensure that every child receives essential medical attention and care. For many years, doctors from St. John’s have played an invaluable role in helping us carry out this initiative. Following the initial medical check-ups, we ensure that the children receive the necessary medicines and medical equipment required to improve their health and overall quality of life. In cases where more advanced treatment is required, we also facilitate further medical care, including surgeries when necessary, ensuring that the children receive the support they need.
Infrastructure Support
CCOT also extends support to orphanages by providing essential infrastructure that helps improve the children’s living environment and the overall functioning of the homes. This includes the provision of important facilities and equipment such as Refrigerators, Water Purifiers, Washing Machines, Solar installations, Gas Stoves, Kitchen Utensils, Dining Tables, and other household necessities. While these may appear to be simple amenities, they play a vital role in ensuring that the children grow up in a safe, hygienic, and comfortable environment.
Hygiene
With nearly 80% of the children under CCOT’s care being girls, the organization places a strong emphasis on hygiene and personal wellbeing. Through sessions conducted by doctors during the medical camps, children are educated about the importance of maintaining proper personal hygiene and adopting healthy daily practices. To further support this effort, CCOT regularly provides essential hygiene supplies such as menstrual pads, toiletries, and dental care products. These resources help ensure that the children are able to maintain cleanliness, health, and confidence in their daily lives.
POCSO Training
The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 is a special legislation enacted to safeguard children below the age of 18 from sexual abuse, harassment, and exploitation. In collaboration with Oasis India, we organize a series of awareness sessions to educate the children across our homes about the provisions and importance of the POCSO Act. The sessions are conducted to help children understand concepts related to personal safety, boundaries, and protection from abuse. Through initiatives such as these, CCOT aims to empower children with the knowledge and confidence required to protect themselves and to ensure that they grow up in a safe, supportive, and informed environment.
Career Guidance
CCOT conducts annual career guidance sessions aimed at inspiring and empowering the children to explore their interests and pursue meaningful career paths. These sessions introduce students to a wide range of educational and professional opportunities, helping them gain a better understanding of the options available to them after completing their schooling. Through these interactions, children are encouraged to think about their aspirations, identify their strengths, and make more informed decisions regarding their academic and career choices.
Placement Services
In collaboration with the ICICI Foundation, CCOT provides free vocational training and placement support for individuals aged 18 and above. This initiative focuses on equipping young adults with practical skills that enhance their employability and prepare them for the professional world. Through structured training and guidance, participants gain exposure to industry-relevant skills and opportunities that enable them to secure meaningful employment. By supporting young adults in their transition from education to the workforce, CCOT aims to help them build stable livelihoods and achieve long-term career growth.
Higher Education Support
CCOT also supports academically promising students in continuing their education beyond school. Through financial assistance and mentorship, the program helps students pursue higher studies and develop the skills required for their chosen fields. By reducing financial barriers and providing encouragement during this important stage, CCOT enables students to focus on their academic goals and expand their opportunities for the future. This initiative plays a crucial role in empowering students to build brighter and more secure careers.
Ration Supply
Every year in the month of December, CCOT ensures that all the homes under its care receive essential food rations to support the children’s daily nutritional needs. This initiative is an important step in helping the homes maintain a stable and consistent supply of food, ensuring that the children continue to receive healthy and regular meals throughout the year. These supplies form a vital part of the children’s everyday meals and help the homes manage their kitchen requirements more effectively. While such provisions may seem simple, they play a crucial role in ensuring that no child has to worry about their next meal.
Sports Excellence
In partnership with the Bangalore Schools Sports Foundation, CCOT encourages children to actively participate in sports and physical activities through programs such as the “Champion in Me” initiative. This collaboration provides children with opportunities to engage in structured sporting activities that help them develop discipline, confidence, and teamwork. Through this initiative, children are encouraged to discover and nurture their athletic potential while improving their overall physical fitness. Participation in sports not only promotes a healthy lifestyle but also helps build resilience, leadership skills, and a strong sense of camaraderie among the children.
Infra Health
CCOT also focuses on maintaining the infrastructure and equipment provided to the homes to ensure that they remain functional and beneficial for the children. Through the Infra Health initiative, regular attention is given to the upkeep and maintenance of facilities and essential equipment supplied by the organization. This initiative plays an important role in sustaining a safe, comfortable, and well-equipped environment where children can live, learn, and grow.
