CCOT Report 2010-2011

The Catholic Club Orphans’ Trust (CCOT) mindful of its responsibility to care for the less privileged continued the quest forward this year too. The most significant development this year was the tremendous response to the two programs conducted by the Club in support of the CCOT The Annual CC Charity Golf Tournament and the Oestrogen High, this by the Ladies of Catholic Club. These two events provided the much-needed monetary support the CCOT has been looking for.

Dr. Bobby Joseph and Dr. Pritesh Roshan organised a Medical Camp for the children of St. Mary’s Orphanage on location, about 195 children in all. Some issues were identified and we assisted with the aftercare. All those who attended these camps were given lunch by the Club.

Like the previous years, this year also we undertook tuition classes for children from this school to improve the performance of the weaker students. The CCOT paid for the services of two teachers who went to the school five evenings a week to coach students who need help.

Four students each from St Euphrasia’s and the Summanhalli Leprosy Home were selected and their entire educational expenses for the year were sponsored by CCOT. CCOT also sponsored the entire year’s nutrition requirement of the children from Chaitanya.

As is customary the Annual Orphans’ Day programme kicked off the Club’s Christmas celebration this year too. This year there were about 500 kids joining us in the celebration at the Club premises, and each one went home with designer school bags filled with goodies. Thanks are due to our member’s efforts, and several well-wishers’ contributions, without which all this would not have been possible. The collection for the Christmas programme was substantial, thanks largely to the efforts of members.

The CCOT’s efforts this year fell short, compared to what could have been done. There is so much to do yet so few hands to help considering that there are only a handful of volunteers driving the CCOT While it is getting easier to find monetary support it is getting difficult to find volunteers. What we need is not money alone but also voluntary support from more of us so we can do more.

A word of thanks to the sponsors of The Annual CC Charity Golf Tournament- Cisco Systems (India) Pvt. Ltd., M/S Prestige Group, M/S UB Group, M/S Pernod Ricard India (P) Ltd., M/S Park Plaza & RBD Shelters, M/S Epson India, M/S Paul John Enterprises, M/S Titan Industries Ltd, plus our own George Pearson, Javed Sheriff, Felix Remedios, K. K. Mathew, Sunil Vasant, Austin Roach, Lukose Vallatharai & Peter Prem.

In closing, my sincere thanks to Drs. Bobby Joseph & Pritesh Roshan, Mavis Smith, Devika, Preethi, Alton, Krutika & Riya Veigas, Naveen Fernandez, Greg DSa, Marshall, Tanya, and to Francisco, Brian & Alphonse & members of Managing Committee, who backed us right through out. Special word of thanks to our Youth, Ladies and the Staff of the Club for your support.
