CCOT Report 2012-2013

This year was a great success for the Trust with renewed energy from our existing and new Committee members and volunteers. New Initiatives and programs were taken up and we have had success in all these. The accounts are presented in a separate annexure for your consideration. We started the year with medical camps at a couple of orphanages with the generous help of doctors and staff from St John’s. Members also requested their friends from the medical fraternity to come and support the medical camps. Children were checked up thoroughly by our team of doctors and in cases where they needed medical intervention, medication and supplements were provided. About a dozen children were taken to an ophthalmologist for eye check-ups and in some cases corrective glasses were given to them. During a camp there was the case of a girl who was detected with an unusual thyroid condition and we referred her to St. Philomena’s hospital where she underwent timely corrective surgery with the entire cost being met by the Trust. We have initiated a program where we distribute health care products to children on a regular basis. This year we decided we would include entertainment as part of our program and we took children from two orphanages to a mall in Whitefield, where they watched a movie in the multiplex and enjoyed themselves with snacks and beverages. We would like to thank Mr. Salim for being kind and generous and providing use of the multiplex. Along with the Charity Golf Tournament, a Charity Ball was organized which was a great success, thanks to the Golf Organising Committee, which gave us additional spending resources for our activities. On Orphans’ Day we hosted around 600 children from various orphanages who had a fantastic time the whole day at the Club They left with their stomachs full, gifts & goodies and smiles on their faces. Thanks to the contribution of members, corporate institutions and CCOT committee and volunteers, without whose support and help we could not have made the celebration a grand success. As part of a new initiative on skills training, we have selected an orphanage and are paying salaries of a couple of trainer carpenters who in turn are training the boys at the orphanage in carpentry skills. And we continue to fund tuitions for a couple of children from other orphanages. We would like the CCOT to continue to grow in the coming years and request members of the Club to be involved its activities and support its causes. A special word of thanks to our sponsors and well-wishers, without your support and generosity much of this would not have been possible. Last but not the least, a big thank you to the Club Managing Committee for your support. And to fellow members on the CCOT Committee, thank you for your hard work and dedication.
