Fun Day
7th December 2025
The preparations for the Fun Day began well ahead by 3 months. Identification of goodies, selection of vendors and pursuing of donors was rolled out. By the 25th of November all the deliveries from the vendors and all the goodies from kind donors was in place and was neatly stored in the Club. The packing was done on the 4th of Dec 2025. We packed 475 goody bags for the children, and we also packed the goody bag for the CC staff. We packed 250 bags in all.
The Fun Day began with the arrival of the buses shortly before 8:00 AM, bringing the children to the venue. Transportation for the children was arranged by Mr. John and Ms. Mary of Infant Travels, who provided the required buses for the program. Once all the children had arrived, a group photograph was taken to mark the beginning of the event, after which the children were escorted into the Ball Room and seated. Photography for the event was organised by Claude, who covered the program and captured key moments of the day. The photography services were provided complimentary.
The children were then served a hearty breakfast consisting of parotta and chicken gravy, which was provided by Mr. Suresh Nilyara and Mr. Mohammed Massoud of Empire. The breakfast was arranged free of cost for the event. Following breakfast, the children proceeded to the hall where they participated in a series of games and interactive activities. These activities were organised by Ms. Samantha, who also served as the Master of Ceremonies for the program along with Jonathan, guiding the children through the activities and maintaining the flow of the program.
At 10:00 a.m., the children were ushered into the Quadrangle for the main segment of the event. Students from SJCC presented an Indian dance performance, after which they interacted with the children and taught them a few dance steps, encouraging participation and engagement.
This was followed by a short ramp walk, where a few children walked the stage and showcased the goodies that they would be receiving during the event. The activity generated enthusiasm among the participants. During the course of the program, the Commissioner of Police made a brief visit to the venue and addressed the children for a few minutes. The competitive segment of the program commenced thereafter, with children from each participating home presenting their performances with enthusiasm and a strong competitive spirit. The performances reflected the preparation and effort put in by the children and were well received by the audience. While the judges took time to evaluate and tabulate the results, the SJCC team presented a Western dance performance, which kept the children engaged during the interval. All participating homes performed commendably. The performances were evaluated by Mr. Gilmore Fernandes, Ms. Kavitha Rego, and Ms. Naomi Rasquinha, who carefully assessed and graded the participants. The participants were awarded for their performance. Sneha Nilaya was awarded the Home of Year for their efforts in improvising the home on several fronts. Subsequently the Prizes for the Painting Competition was also given.
Following the completion of the competitions, the Chairman addressed the gathering and delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions and support of the donors and well-wishers who helped make the event possible. Before the next segment began, the children enjoyed a few minutes of music and dancing. This was followed by a DJ session, during which the children enthusiastically danced and participated in the celebrations. Lunch was then served to the children, consisting of biryani, egg curry, kebabs, and chicken popcorn.
After lunch, the children were once again assembled in the hall. As part of the event’s annual Fun Day tradition, Mr. Moses, who was disguised as Santa Claus this year, distributed sweets to the children. This activity remains a highlight of the program each year. Following this, the children were called individually by name and presented with their goody bags, which contained snacks and stationery items that had been packed by the committee members and volunteers the previous day. They also received colourful customized Hoodies made by Your Design after they reached their homes. The children were later served ice cream before departing for their respective homes. The program concluded with the children returning home in a festive and joyful atmosphere.
